Built by sculptor Thomas Goodwillie and erected in 1839, the Duke of Gordon statue was placed on top of the monument in 1855.  Watching over Elgin at the top of Lady Hill, the Tuscan column 90' in height has a spiral staircase within leading to the top.  A favourite for views of the city and great for sledging in the winter!
